THE KENNEDYS "EVOLVER"
F.A.Q.
Q. Who are these Kennedys?
A.  A husband and wife with a large record collection.  They live in Reston, Va.

Q.  For the geographically challenged, where is Reston, Va?
A.   Not too far from Washington D.C., a city you have probably heard of.  Reston is to the internet what Silicon Valley was to software.  It's where AOL and a lot of other startup companies are located.  It's also the location of the Ebola virus outbreak, in a monkey lab.

Q.  Are the Kennedys possibly infected with the Ebola virus?
A.   Unlikely.  Their lifelong contact with monkeys has been minimal.  Besides, that was a while ago.

Q.  What's their music like?
A.   Kinda Beatle-ish, with lots of Rickenbacker 12-strings and harmonies.  A bit funky in the rhythm, though, with postmodernish loops suggesting an exposure to house/jungle/trance/techno/acid/triphop/boogaloo/watusi music--probably while visiting England, a country across the Atlantic from the USA.

Q.  Are they a duo or a band?
A.   They appear as anything from a duo to a full band, complete with samplers, strange looking guitars, and a psychedelic light show.  You never really know.

Q.  Any hobbies?
A.   Thriftshopping in Texas, shooting digital video along Route 66, buying used paperbacks, vinyl lps, Levis at tag sales.  Driving.  Drinking hot beverages.

Q.  Decaf or full octane?
A.   Currently decaf.  Changes according to trip mileage.

Q.  Musical influences?
A.   Kinks, Hollies, Raspberries, Dusty Springfield, Fatboy Slim, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Nick Lowe, Bluebells, Badfinger, Cornershop, P-Funk, Alice Coltrane, Pizzicato 5, ex-Girl, Brian Wilson, Joe Meek, the fab four, Carol Kaye, McGuinn, Clyde Stubblefield.  We could go on here for a long time.

Q.  Where was EVOLVER recorded?
A.   Mostly in motels.  Shoney's Inn in Nashville, The Travelers Inn in Las Vegas, The Austin Motel, The Hacienda in Roswell, a cottage in the Silver Lake district of LA, and the Continental Drifters house in New Orleans (during a Mardi Gras party).

Q.  Recommend any good restaurants?
A.   Sure.  Dojo in New York.  Michael's Kitchen in Taos.  Joshua's in Woodstock.  Kanter's deli in LA.  The Magnolia and El Azteca in Austin.  Sabatino's in Baltimore.  The Peppermill in Vegas.  Steve's on Newbury Street in Boston.

Q.  Finally, favorite guitars?
A.   Danelectro longhorns, Rickenbacker 12-strings, Gibson flattops, cheap Korean knock-offs.  We also like old analog synths, like the vintage Korg we used on the record.

Q.  Any parting words?
A.  Later.  Bye.
