Registration opens for the Pete Kennedy's Guitar Workshop:
"Six Techniques that will Improve Your Playing Right Now" - located in Rye NY 11/23/08 noon-4pm

The six techniques are:

Pete's daily warmup, focusing on muscle flexibility and independence.
Learning all the notes on the fretboard.
Using tone centers to enable you to play in any key, any position.
Using Pete's "skeleton key" to the modes, to expand your soloing capabilities.
Using triads to build your own chord forms all over the fretboard.
Using harmonics to expand the range of the instrument.

There will, of course, be plenty of time for questions.
This is Pete's only seminar in Westchester this year, so the twelve open slots are expected to fill up quickly.
The location is near Rye Playland, a couple of minutes off of I-95.

Tuition is $80 for four hours, noon to four. Bring an acoustic guitar and, if you wish, a small recording device.

Oh yeah, a quick resume:
Besides performing with the Kennedys as producer and lead guitarist, Pete has worked as a professional musician for a couple of decades (never had another job, in fact). He's played on the road with Nanci Griffith (including the Grammy-winning "Other Voices, Other Rooms" cd), and Mary-Chapin Carpenter, and he's played in bands with a number of  instrumental greats including Danny Gatton, Mike Auldridge, Buddy Emmons, and jazz legend Charlie Byrd. He's played with acts ranging from bluesman SunnylandSlim to the National Symphony, and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, The Tonight Show, and lots of little clubs. His teachers include the legendary Joe Pass and Johnny Smith, as well as Larry Snitzler, a noted Segovia protege. He's received over fifty Wammie awards from the Washington Area Music Association, taught for five years at Ellsworth Studios, and he and Maura were Artists-in-Residence at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
