Pete & Maura back up thier good friend and mentor, Tom Paxton at Swannanoa, 1999. Home  We pay tribute to the late great Chet Atkins, who died June 30, 2001 in Nashville.  Chet was a mentor to all guitarists through his recordings and his unfailing willingness to sit down and trade licks with aspiring pickers.  Virtuosos including Danny Gatton, Lenny Breau, George Harrison and Mark Knopfler have long cited Chet as their main influence.  All guitarists mourn his passing – There will never be another Chet.  The picture above, of Chet and Pete jamming in Nashville, was taken in 1992.
